Autism news: Feeling alone in your autism journey?
November 18, 2024
Hello!

We as autism parents go through a lot. I often feel as if no one in the world goes through what I go through.

Of course, that’s not true. Many of the challenges we face as parents are issues we all experience. But sometimes we FEEL alone.

If we as parents feel that way, might our children have those feelings, too?

I recently purchased a book called The Story of Codey Crowe by Karen Murphy. It’s exactly what the title suggests: a short children’s story about the challenges an autistic boy named Codey Crowe faces every day.

This is a story we can read to our children to help them realize they are not alone. Both we and our children can recognize some of the same challenges and identify with Codey and his family.

I think of how, like Codey, my son couldn’t get enough of jumping. So we bought him a mini-trampoline, and he got a lot of use out of that.

This little story is also a great autism awareness tool. It can create better understanding among neurotypical children and their families as well.

Karen Murphy has created a wonderful children’s book that could be your child’s next favorite story!

Warm Regards,
